Al-Halbousi: The option to dissolve parliament has not been presented yet

      Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi confirmed today, Monday that the presence of the Sadrist bloc in the political process is important, while noting that the option to dissolve parliament has not been presented so far.

     

    Al-Halbousi said in a press conference held with his Jordanian counterpart Abdul Karim Al-Daghmi in the Jordanian capital, Amman, that "there are challenges at the regional level that need solidarity, in order to confront it," noting that "the tripartite cooperation between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt, In addition, bilateral cooperation needs practical steps in many projects related to electrical connection, industrial and economic cooperation, and with regard to the oil pipeline from Basra to Aqaba.

     

    He added, "We, as a legislative authority, support the Iraqi government, to facilitate all steps that enhance the relationship between the two countries, and reflect positively on the Iraqi and Jordanian economy," noting that "the next challenges are economic challenges, and the level of thinking must be higher than it was previously, and they must be put in place practical steps to confront the global crisis.

     

    Regarding the resignation of the Sadrist bloc's deputies, al-Halbousi said that "there is a political effect of the Sadrist bloc resignation, which won the highest number of seats in the Iraqi parliament," explaining that "the presence of the Sadrist bloc in the political process is important."

     

    Al-Halbousi continued, "The Sadrist bloc, led by Muqtada al-Sadr, decided to be the first to sacrifice the options of forming the government and participating in the Iraqi parliament," noting that "the legal procedures after the resignation of the Sadrist bloc's deputies will proceed according to the elections law and according to the mechanisms of parliamentary action, and the alternative will be the top loser in each constituency..

     

     

    Regarding the dissolution of Parliament and the early elections, Al-Halbousi pointed out that "this option is a constitutional option, and the previous elections were early and took place to dissolve Parliament, but so far this option has not been raised," stressing "the quest to form a government that bears the responsibility of political forces for its outputs and performance, and its evaluation is before the people."
